Only download it from the manufactures website and pay for the software. I would suspect there are fake version out on the web that do and pretend to be disk drill. It does not contain malware, trojans or anything like that. Ive been a disk drill user for a while now. As far as I can tell, the official version (downloaded from ) didn't install any malware or browser hijack attempts. Only thing that was weird is that it made two copies of a few files, but no biggie. I almost can't believe it worked so easily. Activated it, and then it recovered all of my deleted files to another drive with no issues at all that I can see. After some brief soul-searching I begrudgingly paid the $80 after finding a 10% off coupon via a quick Google search. I proceeded to recover the files and was greeted with the 500MB paywall limit. Ran the scan, but after a few minutes it basically said it was going to take weeks to finish scanning my 16TB drive so I paused the scan, but then saw that it had already "found" the folder I'd deleted and the files therein anyway. Downloading random software like this always justifiably gives me the heebie-jeebies, but I held my nose and gave the free version of Disk Drill a try. I accidentally shift-deleted the wrong folder with ~410GB of files in it, and immediately looked for a file recovery solution before any further writes to the drive could take place. Dunno why all the hate on here unless y'all are using pirated versions or something. ![]()
